For a small business, texting eliminates phoning in orders, which means customers don't have to wait for someone to answer the phone, according to Ford Blakely, the founder of Zingle, the company offering the texting order system.
“It takes away the frustration of making sure they heard your order and taken down your order correctly,” Blakely said.
Zingle, based in San Diego, was born out of Blakely’s desire to get his caffeine faster in the morning.

Zingle Helps Zoom Food Order Texts To Subway
Zingle, an all new text messaging order system for retail establishments, will launch a market-wide test program at more than 30 San Diego, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and Bakersfield Subway restaurants Wednesday.
The campaign follows a successful run at some outlets, where more than 90 percent of customers queried expect to frequent the restaurant more often because of the text ordering system's convenience.
The next time you're craving a "5 dollar foot long" from Subway, you can just text message your order directly to Subway. Using Zingle, an all-new text messaging order system for retail establishments, the sandwich chain is launching a market-wide test program at more than 30 San Diego, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and Bakersfield Subway restaurants next week.
Individuals can then text in their order, which will be received in less than one minute by the store. An automatic confirmation message, customized by every outlet, is then sent back to the customer informing them how long until their food is ready. When the customer walks in, the store has their order already prepared.
