San Diego News Network surpasses Voice of San Diego for unique visitors
- Five-week old media outlet outpaces 5-year old regional online news organization –
SAN DIEGO – May 6, 2009 – San Diego News Network, the source for hyper-local breaking news, sports, events, lifestyle and entertainment information, announced today that it now draws more unique visitors than VoiceofSandiego.org.
The five-week old media outlet recently surpassed the popular investigative news organization that was launched in January 2004, according to data provided by Quantcast.com.
“We received over 70,000 unique visitors last month,” said Neil Senturia, CEO of San Diego News Network. “We believe this speaks well to the superior value we offer consumers of news, information and meaningful conversation on a wide range of topics pertaining to the areas people live, work and play. Our technology platform enables us to provide visitors with a unique, relevant and interactive experience on a level like no one else. We’re equally proud of how this trend speaks highly of our readers, our media partners and our advertisers. I’m firmly convinced that we’re a prime example of how local news in general will be covered in the future.”
SDNN offers a greater depth of local news with a focus on San Diego’s diverse communities in audio, video and text formats while also engaging in interactive conversations with subscribers. The media and technology company draws its content from various sources, including:
– A full-time staff of expert journalists reporting on breaking news, sports and entertainment stories,
– Award-winning journalists with vast newspaper, radio and television experience serving as contributing section editors, including renowned personalities like sportscaster Lee “Hacksaw” Hamilton and San Diego Magazine editor Tom Blair.
– Well-known freelance writers reporting on specific neighborhood communities in the area,
– More than a dozen active media partners covering different aspects and perspectives throughout San Diego
– The Associated Press and other national and international news sources
– Expert bloggers writing on a variety of topics.
The site also recently launched its Sports, Lifestyle, Business Directory, Rancho Bernardo and Food sections and expects to initiate at least 25 more sections in the next three months. Additionally, SDNN began its affiliated “A Conversation with San Diego” weekday morning radio program on SDNN.com and San Diego 1700AM last week with Senturia and legendary radio personality Joe Bauer. The goal with all these initiatives is to offer an unmatched capability to provide more personalized, hyper-local, news and information for readers than anyone in the area, and give greater opportunities for advertisers to target specific local audiences based on demographic and detailed information with pinpoint accuracy than other media outlets.
