I came across an interesting article on Gigaom this morning that discussed how Facebook is looking to fire back after the whole Google+ annoucement. In particular, Facebook is making a solid attempt to connect with businesses more while Google+ is determining how they will allow companies to participate on their platform. While it doesn’t look like anything has changed with features, Facebook is simply providing businesses with an online education center that offers a lot more information and step-by-step instructions that will enable them to use Facebook more effeciently.
In addition, I learned that earlier this month, Facebook revealed its newly formed partnership with Skype to bring video chats on Facebook. Some people have indicated that there is already a chat function on Facebook that requires a plugin, but I haven’t seen this yet. When I first heard of Google+, I thought that “Hangouts” video chat feature was pretty cool and a possible reason for people to explore the new platform. However, now that Facebook is bringing their A game to the table, I think it’s going to be more difficult for Google+ to sway people to use its platform.
